for and by community.

Why are Black women & their babies more likely to experience negative health outcomes up to & including death during pregnancy, birth & postpartum?

It appears the jury is still out on this one…

While we wait for solutions and science to catch up to our needs, we do this work because we believe the disparities we’re seeing for Black families are entirely unnecessary and unacceptable.

We believe one of the fundamental failures in our Canadian context is lack of meaningful and intentional community relationships. We’re hoping to shift that.

Those in particular positions of power (and corresponding accountability) will work to answer the above question, and strive to improve external systems that don’t currently serve Black communities well.

In the meantime, we intend to work internally in our community systems, and support families with the things we know work.

We’re focused on the simple stuff; things like:

  • 1:1 Social support

  • Quality food and kitchen support

  • Culturally relevant community engagement
